TEAR statement on reported aid cuts
We are deeply saddened by reports the Government is considering yet another significant cut to the Australian Aid budget.
TEAR's National Director Matthew Maury says:
“It is deplorable to hear the news that our government may be seriously considering yet another cut to the Aid budget.
It’s ironic that this news comes just before Easter – a time of hope and new life and transformation. These themes are all central to the work of TEAR’s partners through the support of Australian Aid. These projects are life changing for communities around the world struggling to overcome poverty and injustice.
We would love you to stand with TEAR and our partners to say: “we want to be people of hope”. It is said that a nation’s budget reflects its moral character, and so let’s join together to say that we want to live in a country that has the values of justice and compassion at its core.
